Thinking About Using AI copywriting Software? 3 Reasons Why You Shouldn't

Effective content marketing takes a lot of creativity to bring to life. This is often time consuming, and requires a great deal of resources for companies to pull off. While AI copywriting software does alleviate some of these concerns, the issue bubbles up when companies rely on it as their sole means of content strategy.

Software Logic Vs. Copywriter Intent

Copywriters have some not-so-warm feelings when it comes to AI copywriting software. For example when I think about AI, my mind immediately goes to the Terminator movie franchise where sentient robots have overthrown humanity.

While this analogy is an extreme case, copywriters are wary nonetheless.

Think of it this way: AI software can produce content from a logical, data-driven approach, but can it actually reach the customer?

Readers can tell when content is inauthentic, robotic and just "produced".

As a business owner, authenticity is what gets you customers!

A skilled copywriter knows how to make the piece resonate with the reader. They carefully choose their words so that they are neither out of context or stale.

A skilled copywriter can also put themselves in the shoes of their reader. Creating a piece that is relatable and informative as opposed to logical is where a human writer has the edge.

Brand Storytelling

Brand storytelling is a key part of producing good content. We as consumers love to feel like we are buying into a company's history when we purchase something from them. It's like we get to be a chapter in their story.

Let's go back to the point about reaching customers. AI will be able to get content out to a large number of customers, but it won't be able to connect with them. Getting an ad in front of 10,000 people isn't hard, but convincing them to align with the story of your brand takes a personal touch.

Think of it as a car assembly line. Each car is built by a different machine in the plant. The car is then shipped to a dealership to be sold by a salesperson.

Why do people eventually buy the car?

Is it because of how efficiently the machine produced it? No.

Its because the salesperson makes them feel like the car was created just for them.

See the difference?

The same goes for quality copywriting.

Connecting customers to the story of your brand is a powerful tool you can use to keep them coming back.

AI copywriting software isn't this nuanced.

Effects on Content Strategy

While utilizing AI software gives you the convenience of automating your content, it takes away from your business' overall content strategy.

Think of it this way: If you're automating all of your content, are you really being intentional with what you produce, or are you just pumping out content for the sake of hitting as many targets as you can?

Again, Getting an ad in front of 10,000 people isn't hard, but convincing them to align with the story of your brand takes a personal touch.

Strategically planning and crafting your content has your customers in mind.

You have to think and really try to get to know them.

It's difficult to automate a personalized experience.

Your content strategy is your roadmap for how you'll get to your customers. Relying on AI to guide you in the long term will slow you down. You might as well put on a blindfold, get in the car, and hope for the best.

Not a good mix, is it?

A skilled copywriter knows how to make the piece resonate with the reader. They convince customers to align with the story of your brand. They are intentional with the content they produce, and provide a customized experience for customers.

AI is a useful tool in some areas, but it can't replace the human touch that good writing needs.
